When is it recommended to drain engine oil for maintenance?

Draining the engine oil when the engine is warm or hot is recommended because it ensures that the oil is less viscous, allowing it to flow more freely and carry away any contaminants that have accumulated in the engine. Warm oil is less thick and can more effectively exit the oil passages, resulting in a more complete oil change. When the engine is warm, the oil is at its optimal temperature for drainage, which enables it to effectively carry away particles and sludge that could otherwise settle at the bottom of the oil pan. This helps in keeping the engine clean and ensuring that new oil can circulate properly.

In contrast, draining oil when the engine is cold can lead to a less efficient oil change, as the oil will be thicker and may not drain out completely.
